Established in 2001, “Chaverim” is an outdoor education & environment centre located less than half an hour south west of Bundaberg. As an initiative of Shalom Catholic College, the Centre is designed to provide a personal development and outdoor education role to its students. However, the group accommodation facilities and outdoor education & recreation programs and conference facilities are also available to other schools, church & community groups, sport teams and other organisations in the region.

The property comprises 175 acres of rural land set on the Burnett River (“Birra barra”) and can cater for residential group sizes up to approximately 85 youth members or 50 adult guests.

Facilities include three comfortable accommodation buildings, large dining and kitchen area and two conference rooms. Chaverim provides fully catered stays with adventure activity program options or self-organised programs. Costs vary depending upon the length of stay and activity options required.

Adventure activity programs are designed and delivered by qualified and experienced outdoor education instructors. Programs may include activities such as;

  • High Ropes Courses
  • Low Ropes Courses
  • Team Building Activities
  • Canoeing
  • Abseiling
